Report Card Time!

It is that time of the year when teachers are grading and preparing to assign grades to their students.  This is one duty that I have not missed since I retired.  We are also accustomed to business asking us to "grade" them by giving us "comment" cards.  Yesterday, I was impressed when the kennel where we board Duke gave us a report card on him!  What a great idea!  I love getting feedback on how he behaved and would like it even if he WASN'T doing well.  While I am proud that he got a good report card, I sure hope it is truthful.  I KNOW that part about loving his walks and getting to chase the birds was true.

The #1 Reason People Die Early by Country

I found this video fascinating. They use a metric called "years of life lost", which counts when people die in contrast to when they might hope to die. For example, if you SHOULD live to 86, but die at the age of 6 due to malaria, then your years of life lost is 80. It is interesting to see how dramatically the cause of death changes from county to country. Take a look.
